Hopscotch Jukebox

Ten songs and accompanying music videos produced through a City Library music and digital art residency. Many thanks to the City of Adelaide for the opportunity to undertake this residency and to the many workshop participants who co-created these wonderful songs.
These 10 songs were composed and recorded at digital music workshops l led at the City Library during June and July 2019. At each of the 2 hour workshops, participants were introduced to digital music recording using GarageBand and then used this tool to created and recorded tracks. I then mixed the songs. Each of the songs are short - around 30-40 second long, requiring the music and lyrical ideas to be presented with brevity. The songs Lucky, Don't know, Fair and Again feature vocals by Bonnie Lee Galea. Happy features vocals, guitar and banjo by Rundle Mall buskers Lisa Barter and Anthony Clarke. I produced a music video to accompany each song. The digital animations were produced using computer art tools Processing and Codea. The digital animations were superimposed over still images from Francis Street and the entrance to the Library. As part of the residency, I also led two 3 hour workshops on digital art using Processing.

A playlist of the music videos is below. This can also be viewed on Youtube.

From October to November 2019, a series of street stickers, arranged as a hopscotch are displayed in Francis Street just off Rundle Mall, Adelaide.

The sticker contains an images from the music videos. Speakers in Francis Street allow visitors to hear the songs while they hop about.
